Gourds Farm Slope

Follow directions as above but at the clump of trees with the mobile mast turn VERY hard left (signposted Ashmore)  This is a narrow road with passing places running along the ridge of the hill.  In approx 3/4 mile Compton Abbas Aerodrome comes up on right.  Continue on for 200 meters to fork.  Take right fork for 30 meters to junction. Turn right. (Caution - Pulling out here requires extreme care as it is a blind turn for you and Blandford bound traffic).  After turning right, continue for 200 meters to carpark or 100 yards further on a small layby on left. (Max  4 cars - do not block large main gate- farm machinery access.

Alongside the road, facing north is a footpath.  Follow this down to a gate (National Trust Plate on it) Go through gate and walk towards the large hill in front of you (Melbury Hill) keeping fence on your left.  After 800 meters you will find a gate (no 4) on your left.  Through this and turn slightly left.  You will see a bowl. Good here for Westerly and SouWesterly.  For Southerlies turn towards Melbury Hill and use that slope.  Trial and Error on each slope for best lift.
