I am contemplating replacing the clubs training scheme Spektrum radio gear with newer equipment of similar or better capabilities.
I currently favour the Futaba T6K transmitter and associated R3006SB Rx. The transmitter is very clean looking with an internal antenna, is quite simple to program and has adequate model storage (30) for all our training needs, and is competitively priced. If anyone has any experience with this kit I would be very interested in their views?
The current Spektrum Tx' will be retained to act as buddy boxes for club members who have compatible Tx's and are training using their own models.

Hi John, Xjet has a review here:

He mentions that it lacks a spring loaded trainer switch!

Does the TK6 offer Wi-Fi connectivity? The absence of a trip wire does look like a considerable benefit of the Spectrum buddy box system.

A shame, that makes it redundant when it comes to training - anyone else have any training favourites (easy to use, easy to program, robust, and a sensible price) ?

Worth a look

That's more like it thanks Chris, proper battery pack instead of single cells and DMMS technology.
For a similar price I also like the equivalent Futaba offering T8J ...

This Spektrum transmitter might be considered. Wireless link for training and good value too. It has a push button momentary switch which I assume is the trainer function.

This Tx seems to have more than enough capability and more cost effective for what is essentially a free training service. The description says DSMX but i don't know if the current trainer RX's are DSM2 or DSMX.

The Spektrum equipment is good value for money but for longevity, reliability, and robustness; I am favouring the 'old school' manufacturers. I have had poor experiences with the individual battery cell setup of the low-end Spektrum transmitters, and the switchgear is less than robust, and (subjective and not intended for discussion on this thread) the low-end receivers we have been using seem to brown-out regularly!

Hi John - I understand the reasoning for moving away from "Spectrum" brand having repaired trainers last year.
You may recall that I offer midweek training, but I fly Mode 1 & the club purchased a Mode 1 Spectrum tx to facilitate this.
If you go the Futaba route I would be looking to source a compatible secodhand Futaba Mode 1 TX..
Regards
Colin
