Observer UAV Mods was created by Phil Ford
A bit of a story but bear with me! My Observer camera ship had a strange characteristic of diving or nosing down when using a lot of throttle, therefore taking off was done gently at take-off but God help you if you were not ready and you opened up for WOT in flight. Although t it does fly easily at 1/3rd throttle. Anyway, after a lot of searching found that many other owners had the same issue. Someone discovered that the motor thrust angle is 2 deg and should be ideally at 6 deg with 2 deg of left (because it is a pusher). He also posted a link to a place in Belguim where they have created a modified motor mount using a 3D printer. Great so ordered one, looking forward in a weeks time for the said mod to arrive.

It did! But WTF is this? Image one is what I should have got. Image two what I actually have. I don't think it will fit. Got to laugh because I might just scream instead. Obviously a cock up (hopefully).

After doing a fair bit of reverse searching through my browser history I found the page that demonstrated two versions of the motor mount, one for 11 inch & 12 inch props with either CW or CCW drive train. The latter item for side thrust angle improvement.

I also discovered the designers page and managed to download the 3D printer files. Below is what I want to achieve and a 3D snapshot of the item in question. If I don't get a response from Belgium then I will have to find someone with a 3D printer.;)

Oh, apparently the mount should be 9 degrees not 6 deg downthrust

Phil - I know a local model helicopter guy who is well into 3D printing bits for his helicopters.
Let me know if you wish to go that route.

Phil mentioned that he had a

bear with me

If it comes with you again I should leave your honey sandwiches at home Phil, they can get a bit possessive also you know what they do in the woods and we don't want any of that behaviour.

Hi Phil
I have downloaded the attached file - is this the one you want?

In the meantime I will have a go at printing it.

Can you forward the file you have - is it an STL file?
