I had a cracking afternoon flying from the cliffs above Durdle Door yesterday. Amazing lift and so smooth compared to inland hills. This is the first time I've flown here but it won't be the last.
That looks a good scenic place Mike. Had not thought of this particular location. Is there much walking to do? Did you use the hill or the Cliff for lift. I have not had much success with sloping off a cliff....
Not much walking if you are prepared to pay for the car park.
it's grassy, so I guess I'm flying from the hill behind the cliff...but the best lift is over the sea in front of the cliffs.
If your experience of cliff soaring is limited to Barton, then it's like comparing Peppa Pig world to Alton Towers - 20m compared to 100m
Creech is definitely for sloping. You'll hear most people referring to it as 'the Picnic site'. Park in the car park (free) where the red flag flies and fly in a southerly breeze. The slope is OK but nothing special. If you drive further west along the ridge there's another car park overlooking Tyneham. The farmer has recently given permission to fly here too. I've not flown it, but the slope looks better than the picnic site.
West hill is awesome you fly over the sea,you get lift from one slope, fly over to the hill opposite and get lift from there, national trust car park, walk across 2 fields never flown anywhere better
