DIY fod guard was created by flyingpete
This is not a new idea but I thought I would share.Fod guard's are critical to have on your turbine as they stop foreign matter being sucked in and a cheap easy way to make one is spend £2.47 on a tea strainer.Simply make a hole slide it over the starter motor and secure with a under size rubber o ring job done.The list price for a fod for my pst turbine is £ 26.00 plus shipping.

Don't underestimate the local sucking power. I think you would be well advised to seal the gap between the strainer and the turbine. I used silicone fuel pipe slit down its length and then use silicone sealant to attach it as a permanent flexible gasket to the strainer.

Like JRI , I would also be concerned about the air restriction this idea might cause. I think you may need a much greater cross sectional area without restricting the air flow.
To explain see these examples of the full size to demonstrate the mass air flow a jet produces.

Thanks for your views guy's.I am fully aware of the sucking power of a turbine as it's about the same as the wife's intake of breath when I'm in her bad books

Or Pete, "wife's intake of breath when you tell her how much that plane was"

In my case it's the outgoing blast of breath I have to avoid as I mumble the price....... :lol:
