Here we go again! Engine trouble, suspect carb or fuel issue. After sorting the throttle servo issue from earlier.

Been stood for about four weeks. Today started up engine and ran okay but would not rev above half chat, dies. Tried a few times, still no go. Gave up for a while and came back to it. Now it wouldn't fire at all, except will start and run at idle when choke is ON.

Points to carb not supplying fuel. Where to look? Reeds?

First thing would to clean the carb Phil, carefully take it apart, if you haven't done one before take photos as you go so you can reassemble. Blow fuel through all of the holes with your pump and reassemble. Check the reeds and seats while you have it apart. The smallest bit of dirt or a hair can be enough. So you filter your fuel.?

I have not tampered with anything (needle settings) since you last flew it Jon, except the servo not responding correctly.

I will take carb apart and clean again. Reed flaps? Do these need some attention whilst the carb and block are off?

Felt filter in tank Jon but can't remember what is in the filler can, might be just a clunk pickup.

Just check the reeds are undamaged and that they are seating properly. Also Check all the gaskets are ok.

With the Wots Wot done except to glue new hinges in rudder (whenever they arrive) go back to the CAP232. As suggested I took off carb and stripped down. Blew out with compressed air all the ports and checked diaphragm for micro pin holes. Washed it in fuel and reassembled and refitted.

When the fuel finally got to the carb it was away, ran her up to warm, settled down to reasonable idle, blipped it a few times and then let it idle for a while. All looks good. Had a cup of tea to celebrate and then went out to restart. Kicked a few times and flipped it till the cows came home but naff all. Gave up and put it away again to get on with something constructional.

WTF?

My plan now is to change the plumbing to three line and replace the QuikFill Valve with a decent Fuel Dot. Therefore the fuel from the tank goes direct to the carb. Eliminating long lines and possible air leaks. See what happens then.

I have ordered a new CM6 plug and if necessary after replumbing and still no joy, I will try a spare ign module although I still think it is a fuel issue, but just covering all bases. ;)
