Quikfil valve rubbers are fuel sensitive. Glow for glow and petrol for petrol. Not anything else. Red colour for petrol, Silver for glow. I found out a long time ago petrol eats the rubber of glow versions. Caused engine troubles with intermittent cutting out.

Slight problem for me then Phil. The valve body on the models cowl is RED. It's a glow engine!

You might be OK Simon, usually using glow parts for petrol is a problem because the petrol damages the o ring rubber, you might be OK the other way round.

Either that or just remove it completely and use another fill method

Thanks Jon. I will replace the petrol Dubro unit with a glow version before I go any further. As far as I know, the motor ran fine when it was last used so as you say I might be ok.

You may get away with it but if the O ring leaks in air then you don't get the pressure to push the fuel to the carb. Also the centre button sticks when getting old and then the same problem. Because I was wary of this issue although rare it happened to me. I only have one in use now and that's on a petrol motor. All the glow motor Quikfil have been returned to the good old fuel dots.
