Will one of these help you Phil, used these Dubro ones before, they are quality lanks and the recessed outlet might help solve your issue?

Thanks Guys for your ideas. The original tank as in photo is taller than it is wide. It is setback from firewall by about 25mm. It is also raised slightly so the choke and throttle rods can just clear. I'll look again at a Dubro Jon, if I can find one that fits in the narrow tank space and can hold about 420cc.

In the meantime I'll see if I can turn tank and keep it roughly where it is now. I cannot remember exactly (water under bridge, etc, etc) but I am sure I have had the wings on some time ago and plane balanced with stuff where it is. We'll see...

Re replacement Pitts style mufflers available for DLE's. The one I fitted to a 30 is very noisy, had to reduce outlet area to make it anything like acceptable. even the expensive ones from JE that I have on the MVVSs are louder the i like.
With the tank, this, of course, can be back from firewall as this is a pumped carb. Having said that, like Jon, I like the Dubro tanks.

As it has been raining most of today and waiting on ally servo arms for CAP, I decided an indoor job was on the cards. Fitted servos into Wots Wot top wing. Put it away again :lol: and retrieved the Mustang from garage into kitchen. Fuel tank has been turned round the "normal way" and sits only 1/2 inch further back than before, so shouldn't make a major difference to C of G. Dubro tanks tend to not be narrow which I need, but wide and lower. Yes, have used them before and good tanks.

Exhaust Noisy? With limited amount of space for mufflers, whether Pitts style or not, it can be a bit of a quest to get reasonable noise reduction. Possibly pepper pot inserts? Mind you I did not expect the stock muffler to be anything else than crap! I'll measure up at a later date on the biggest can type Pitts that will fit. No rush!

Possibly in a few weeks once I am able to drive myself about and of course suitable weather. I'll post up all the info when maidened. It certainly feels like a lot of air being sucked back. I have not weighed it (another task to do) but would expect it to come about 12 1/2 lbs.

Another slight concern is the air flow over the fins. Although the pre-cut slot sits pretty well mid cylinder, I am wondering if it might need a couple more mini slots just below main slot to aid cooling.

Mind you there is a ruddy half dozen of maidens or re-maidens to do. :lol:

Sounds good, be interesting to see what yours weighs, I think mine will be on the heavy side after the rebuild!!!
I'm also adding a false leading edge as it's pretty blunt at the moment! Hoping this will help the slow speed and make it a little faster when the throttle is nailed open!!!!! :evil:

Hi Chris. Some Info. With nothing to do momentarily :lol: I fitted the wings and gave it a weight check. Came out at 10.2 lbs empty. Quite pleased with that because my old destroyed Muzzie from 2010 with the lame Power 60 and a pair of 4000 3 cell Lipos, plus a small Lipo and regulator for the RX came out at 12 1/2 lbs.

Checked CG I had done this before I think, but redo again for verification I checked it inverted and also right way up although manual says inverted. Slightly nose heavy at 120mm from leading edge at fuselage. Or roughly in line with the back edge of the retract servos. The manual suggests 124mm and anywhere within the 117 to 127 area.

The hardware layout is per the images on post # 4336 except of course the tank is now the right way round..
