Next on the bench is Dave Rogers f15. The model is 1/9 scale f/g fuzz, foam flying surfaces and balsa skinned and covered with glass cloth.
The model has been built for edf use and only uses full moving tailplane "tailerons".
My job is to bring the model up to turbine use and have flaps, ailerons, elevator and rudders retracting u/c and full respray in digital cammo scheme.
First job will be too strip out all the intenal ply formers and renew with thicker ply to accept the turbine rails and Upgrade the flimsy wing joining blade supports in the fuzz, don't want any wing clapping hands on my watch. Next will be to upgrade the 6mm carbon elevator pivot rod to 10mm,not going to be easy as it is epoxied into the tailplane halves. My plan here is to make a jig and drill the old one's out with a 10mm core cutter, and the associated 6mm bearing tubes in the rear fuzz.
Well that's enough for now!!

P. S Got to put some additional sockets in the bungalow
to keep Sue happy, so won't be starting until Monday. B)

Don't worry Dave, he can't have much left because he has flogged most of it to me... :( Not unless he's got a turbine laying around redundant.

Update time, I have cut out all the ply from the fuzz ready for new 6mm birch ply to go in. All control surfaces have been cut out and lined with balsa. Can't do much more until my aeropoxy/hysol gun and nozzles arrive from China, pics later

OK guys it's been a while since I posted on Dave's F15. Now that the mig has been handed over to John I can fully focus on the F15.
The very gay pink scheme has gone for good and she has been primed with F15 eagle grey. Today I started making up the paint masks for the digital cammo scheme and made a start with the white. Also fin attena probes made up, fitted, filled and primed. Finished the cockpit tub and new canopy fitted. A few pic's
