Hoolien Electro GURKE was created by kevinross
I fancied a short break from the 2 year Stearman build when a club members offered this surplus to requirements untouched kit for sale from the same HOOLIEN stable as the Impressivio fast delta - This one has no moving ailerons or elevator but twisting & pitching wings. The laser cut parts have an incredible accuracy and a total delight to work on.

It took longer to extract the ribs etc than build the wing.
1. dry fit the ribs
2. slide in the carbon tube
3. spray silicone polish on glass building base

The instructions are only in German but I built the Fuselage by pure visual of the plan. Had to resort to google translate for some of the wing build which said

4. clamp the trailing edge flat on the building board and run cyano on the joints
5. This are the wing rotation servos
6. Why cant i build a Stearman 1/12 days ??

Final sand and covering left.

The recommended power set cost was astronomical so i cant blame the anonymous seller (lets call him old BJ for short) for selecting a cheaper alternative but I soon discovered this kit is Germanic designed around that power set.

So while quietly cursing the lovely BJ, i set about filing the motor case because the motor mounting flange was 3mm larger than the recommended. Then in order to get the folding spinner to clamp onto the motor shaft i had to machine approx 4mm off the rear face to allow the shaft clamp to engage.

Well a model build is never satisfying without metal work and machinery !!!!!

All things set to trip you up somewhere. What would I do. See what sort of motors I have. Then select a suitable plane to build round it. Guaranteed to fit. I blame the EU or the delightful BJ. ;)
