Guys - Just spotted one for sale complete on the BMFA website, built from the Kerry Sterner plan & test flown
by Steve Holland. This plane was featured on the front cover & reviewed in R.C.J. Int April / May 2015.
Seller is Tony . A . Pearson & is selling it because he has nowhere to fly it ?
Video of test fight available on

Looking forward to seeing David's in the air.

Well holiday season is nearly over for me so time to knuckle down and do some more on the vampire. The next stage is to glass the airframe with light glass cloth and resin. This is a very slow and messy job so to make best use of my time I am going to glass my panther at the same time as I will be able work on one model while the other is drying and only one mess to tidy up.
I'm hoping when I get back tomorrow the resin and cloth have arrived.I have a lot of prep work to do on both models first so will post some pics of the glassing process when I start later this week.

Started back on the vampire ,got most of the filling done.Hopefully if the weather plays ball tomorrow i can get the model outside and give it a final sand and a coat of resin.
I always seal the balsa with a coat of resin and flat out with 400 paper first otherwise if you don't the balsa can act as a sponge and leave dry spots when you lay up the glass cloth. While i'm on the subject of glassing a model you can lay up the cloth in two ways, some people like to roller a coat of resin on the model and lay the cloth on the wet resin or the way i like to do it is lay the cloth on the dry airframe and using a 50mm brush work the resin in, working from the middle out to the edge, using only enough resin to stick the cloth down and remove any excess resin with a credit card.Once it has cured i will go over again with the 400 paper and then apply a second coat of resin.
Never try and flood the cloth to fill the weave as you will end up with a ripple surface which will be a nightmare to sand back and get a nice smooth finish.Much better option to make sure the weave is full is to spray on a coat of high build primer and sand back, much lighter than resin and easy to sand back.

Dave ! I will be using Delux products finishing resin, very easy to use and it is easy to sand and low odour. It's more expensive than other resin's but well worth it as you will see on both models when they are done B)
