Has anyone considered using silicon sealant to bond servos in with, it gives an excellent, stong and flexible joint and is easy to remove later with a sharp blade if necessary?

Impressivo Guys - Although not part of the build group, a thought on gluing servos in with epoxy.
I have done this on other models and first the stage is to wrap masking tape around the servo where
the glue will be applied. Apply glue and stick servo to airframe.
Why the masking tape ? well, if you need to remove the servo you can cut it free and then peel the masking tape
off leaving a clean glue free servo case.
Look forward to witnessing your mass launch in Feb - wellies & floats !!!

Regards

Jon...I'm not sure why epoxy is preferred instead of silicone. And if you secure the servo mounting lugs like Kevin has done, you can surely use anything to secure the servo because it won't be going anywhere.

Colin...I've not used masking tape before because I'm a little sceptical about the adhesive used and wonder if it will deteriorate with with. However, I have used heatshrink over the servo before gluing and might try it here. But I fear that the extra thickness might be a problem.

Mass launch in February will require some of us to pull our fingers out.

re mikes comments- if you secure the servo mounting lugs like Kevin has done, you can surely use anything to secure the servo because it won't be going anywhere.

Just to conclude - Having secured the servo lugs with ply blocks - Final fixing was a blob of hot melt glue on each servo lug.

Kevin -
PS - Yes come you slackers (don't want to rub it in but mine was test flown 2 weeks ago)
if you can't keep up - I can highly recommend early retirement !

Better pop down to you today Jon and pick up the kit, then go and purchase some cyano!! (And learn how to build a kit?)

I did some Ross blocks, snug fit around the servo lugs, then a blob of hotmelt going through the lug holes. It should work and it did clear my head!
