Once again, the weather was on our side for our Memorial Fun Day. Saturday was the main day, with plenty of general flying taking place throughout. At lunchtime, John fired up the BBQ, which was followed by Cornettos, which went down a treat in the sunshine.
The afternoon saw the new Chuck Glider Competition, using laser-cut gliders designed by Chris M. It proved to be a fun and light-hearted event with great participation from the attending members. Results were as follows:
- Longest Flight Distance – won by Simon D
- Longest Flight Time – won by Matt B
- 2nd place: Dave B
- 3rd place: Ray W
After the flying wrapped up, a few of us camped overnight and rounded off the day with some drinks and BBQ around the fire pit, which made for a great atmosphere and plenty of laughs.
Sunday was much more relaxed, with only a handful of flights taking place due to a brisk crosswind, but it was still a pleasant way to wind down the weekend.
Special thanks go to Chris M for designing and cutting the chuck gliders, to John B for manning the BBQ, to Peter W for supplying the Cornettos, and to everyone who helped with the setup and clear-down—your support made the weekend a real success.
Finally, a reminder that our final club event of the year will be the EDF and JETS Day on Saturday, 13th September (weather permitting). I look forward to seeing you there!
