In the manual for the Mythos 50E it suggests the following control throws:

Ailerons 40º Left and Right.

Normal Flight: D/R 30% Expo 30%
Snap: D/R 40% Expo 90%
Spin & 3D: D/R 100% Expo 90%

Elevator 40º Up and Down.

Normal Flight: D/R 30% Expo 30%
Snap: D/R 40% Expo 50%
Spin & 3D: D/R 100% Expo 90%

40º throws for a pattern plane seem a touch on the high side, I don't want to 3D my Mythos, but presumably when I have the courage I'd want to Spin. I'm just not happy setting the plane up to use only 30% of the servo travel in normal flight, that seems to be throwing a lot of the servo resolution out of the window. I guess the question is should I go with the recommended throws or set it up with 12º throws which if my maths is correct is 30% of 40º or 16º which would be the snap suggestion?

From the 2 sebart models I have, the Angel and pilatus I found if you set it up exactly as the manual says it is perfect first flight. I believe their models are well tested unlike other model manufacturers and they give you accurate information.

Dave is right except that you will not want the 40° 3D rate and will not need that much either for a spin.

I would set your high rate deflection to the 40% rate so around 16°, but set your linkage up to get this at around 130% travel volume or just a bit under the max figure for your radio (JR is max 150%). Then set your low rate at 12°.

Use the expo figures that they quote for each, so 50% at high and 30% for low.

I would do the same for aileron and elevator.

For rudder, set as much throw as you can get and start with around 30% expo.

Thanks Dave, I'm trying to put it together as intended, just a few deviations by going for HV servos and a Jeti ESC rather than the Hacker.

Thanks Jon, good to know I can ignore the 3D rates, it was the fact that it suggested them for the spins that got me wondering.

You never know, it might actually be ready some time this week.

I've only had the air frame 8 months, blimey! You make it sound like I've been taking my time.
