Hi Phil,

I had an issue with my servos and they were sent back on 15th or April, I got them back today, 13th July! :woohoo: Otherwise the Mythos would have been finished before the Atlas.

Thanks for looking at your Angel, alas different servos... If I've not sourced an arm by the weekend, I might make one up out of fiberglass and glue it to an existing servo arm.

Try this one Chris, Secraft 2.5in JR, according to the drawing the middle holes are 50.8mm apart

Hi Guys - Am I missing something here, why not drill the rudder arm out at 40mm to match the servo arm ?
Is it perhaps to do with precise rudder movement ?

Colin

Alas Colin, I've epoxied in the horns into the rudder which is glued onto the fuselage so any drilling would be fraught with danger now.

I have dead-center tool that would safely do the drilling job Chris .. also a set of pin-vices for small drills.

Thanks John,

I didn't see your post until after I'd dived off in a different direction. Being a total cheapskate, I decided to go the DIY route

With servos with metal output shafts, do you loctite the arm retaining screw, or is the grippy washer enough?

By the what Jon & Chris, the jig for enlarging the hole in the tail worked well, 4.5 hours to design it, build it and test it.

Okay, I used masking tape, a steel ruler and a scalpel, but the jig would have been more precise!

Chris - Do not loctite the locating screw. Read the info on metal gear servos! Just make sure you have the star washer underneath the screw head and tighten. If you have to return the servo due to failure they will throw it back at you when they spot the blue.

I always Loctite them (Just vibration proof, not permanent loctite)

I dont care what the instructions say, on a petrol model the screw wouldn't be in there for more than 5 minutes without Loctite, might not be so bad on an electric model, but personally i wouldn't risk it. Lose a servo arm there is a very good possibility that you could lose the model!!
