Hi Phil

Nice looking model, look forward to seeing it tearing up the Cashmoor skies!

Before you start cutting the cowl, I would be inclined to try to modify the wing root instead, as it would give a better result. It will depend on the type of covering used, but it may be quite simple with a bit of heat using an iron, to peel back the film from the area, cut the wood at the cowl area then reapply the film. This is easy to do with Profilm/Oracover if you are careful, but maybe not so easy with other types. If the film can't be easily removed then cutting the cowl would be your best option.

Thanks Jon. Looking for ;) an easy way to overcome.... Maybe cut the wing corner back on both wings and repatch. Much cleaner job admittedly.

Phil - Look forward to seeing this fly, it's a model I fancied a few years back but missed out on the 40 sized version.
This is the aircraft the singer John Denver was sadly killed in when it crashed into Monteray Bay CA.
The aircraft was built from a kit by a friend who modified the fuel tank selection system, pilot had to turn
round to see fuel gauge and operate valve. Crash was attributed to loss of control when attempting to switch
over fuel tanks.

Jon - The plan is to take the wing root recess back 10mm on both wings therefore clearing cowl bulges, cowl locating screws, ,etc. The line in the image shows where port wing fouls trailing edge.

Have you tried peeling the film back yet? Will give a better looking result than a patch.

Covering ain't Oracover Jon, probably that awful Monokote or China's worse. :( I am thinking of covering up the mod with a solar trim design or something. ;)

Long EZ? Odd looking flying object but.............

.Although a strange looking thing this has to beat 'em all........... :woohoo: See "Gromit" no need for jigs or vernier - just dream something up, rivet it together and away you go!
