I wouldn't know what one would look like, say from the 1975 era. 1975 was for me, suped up cars (fun) and women (trouble) but not necessarily in that order. :whistle: This rc flying hobby is relatively new for me too.

Flares! Oh god! don't bring that up. Bear in mind though it was the era of the Lotus Cortina, 3 litre Capri Ghia. :woohoo:

Authentic? what about a 35 mhz or was it 27 mhz then, Tx with a bent aerial and a handful of crystals and big EverReady zinc battery. :lol:

Anyway staying on track..

Servo choice? I do like Hitec servos especially the G2 digitals because they can be programmed to personal preferences and reversed. And if not metal gears then the Karbonite versions at least. However, they are usually slightly longer or wider than other "standard" servos by a 1 or 2 mm.

I have used the DS589 before and are good servos and plenty of torque at 5.5v. But I may just go for Jon's recommendation but in HV but then I still have to regulate down for the retracts. Um, ! will have to mull this over.

No, small surfaces and relatively small deflections.

Just think about the servos they were using in the '70s!!

I'm using a mixture from my collection of 90's era JR coreless analogue, plastic geared servos.They were the best available at the time but actually only have similar figures to todays standard digi servos, 5-6kg 0.21-0.23 s. Add to that many hours of use!

Probably from a similar time Ade, that is the classic Futaba standard servo. The spec is a fair bit lower though, 2.4kg and .28s. Something like that would still work in the Curare though I expect, probably better than the best servos of the 70's!
