WMAC Group build - Impressivo was created by MikeSeale
Flyingpete started a thread called winter building asking what people were doing for the 2014 season. I pitched in with an idea for a group build - a bunch of us all building the same model - and made a suggestion of the Impressivo by Hoellein. This appears to have gained enough interest to warrant its own thread, so here it is.

Click the link above the image and take a look at the videos. You'll see that it can perform well enough to suit the experienced whilst anyone who has flown a wing/delta will know that they can be very docile when throttled back. As such, this model would suit both beginner and expert. Also, being a CNC laser cut kit you will be assured of an easy build. So even if you have little or no experience of building you would be able to put one together without too much difficulty.

I reckon we have a possible nine so far.

Mike Seale - payment confirmed (PC)
Jon Tappin - PC
Chris73 - PC
Kevin Ross - PC
David Tappin - PC
Simon Dean - PC
Stuart McKechnie - PC
Dave Bright - PC
Phil Coup - PC
Steve Morris - PC

Let me know whether you want to be added or removed from the list and I'll place an order soon.

I've been in touch with Hoellein and asked for a quote on shipping five kits to the UK of 9.90 Euro. The kit price is 79.90 Euro so with shipping let's call it 81.00 euro. That's about £69.00. On top of that you'll need to add a couple of servos, motor, speed controller and battery. And glue and covering, of course. So it won't be as cheap as a Chinese RTF, but it will potentially perform better and you will have the satisfaction of putting it together yourself.

The Hoellein website lists some setups which might be easy to source in Germany, but are not necessarily cheap or easy to get in the UK. I've done a little research and this motor looks to be good for the money.

Turnigy 480S 3200kv

Having a 4mm shaft has advantages over many of the cheap motors out there. Also, IMHO, the inrunner design has advantages for simple mounting compared to an outrunner. The reviews are generally very positive with most running it on 3S 2650mAh 30C batteries. I'll probably use Turnigy Nano-tech having had good service from them before.

Current draw appears to be in the 40A range depending on prop and battery of course. So you could get away with a 40A co0ntroller, but a 50A or more would make sense. You always take a chance with cheap controllers, but the Hobbyking YEP has good reviews.

Hope this helps.

An alternative setup would be the Multiplex Funjet Ultra tuning set. Some of you will have seen Chris Smith flying his Funjet at Cashmoor and with therefore know what to expect from this - FAST!

MPX Funjet Ultra tuning set

I'm sure you could get this cheaper...I didn't do an extensive search! It's more expensive than sourcing your own items but less hassle. I had an email from Chris which said:

"Batteries Overlander 60C 3S 3200 mAh ( Definitely need high c -- measured current draw 70 amps)"

Re power train - I can see that some fliers might favour the extreme Multiplex option but if we all stick with an average power and cost set up, i think more members will adopt the concept and any fun comps will be more meaningful.

I agree Kevin, we should go for matching set ups, I already have some 3s 2100 25c packs, so that's what I will be using!

Hi mike, can you add me to the list for this model as it looks a good choice for a build. After flying the foam jets in a large group it was a lot of fun and if all powered simularly it would be good.
