Looks promising Phil. Not only does a "chuckie" get you outdoors, it excercises the arm you use to lift pints. Vital to keep that in trim for the end of lockdown.

Today another launching exercise up the school fields with a heavy duty elastic band, goes off well then climbs and stalls into a vertical dive. Back home pondered for a while and decided to stick a 5 gm wheel weight on the nose to alter the CG. Back up the field and Yes! Flies wings level and no steep climb. Real pleased. :) Would 've got some video but a dog turned up so gave anymore flights a miss.

Phil - Well done, still not sorted
my stall out - what sort of glide distance are you getting.
Good judgement to avoid possible K9 interference.

I would guess about 60 feet of "exercise" (or 120 feet if I walk back to the original start point) with a slight nose up launch into a 3-5 mph head wind with an elastic band (the thick white ones). The grandsons turned up at the fields and "grandad can we have a go? It even survived their "chucks" So far!

I thought a chuck glider was supposed to circle? A little bit of rudder to keep it yawed, the dihedral to stabilise it and the UP elevator that you have to keep it up.

I thought a one shilling and sixpence (7 1/2 pence to metrics) Saturday morning pocket money Chuck Glider was to cover as much distance as possible therefore open for fun competition. Although it making a circle to come back so you could catch it would be fun too. I created it for the first statement although the elastic band was an after thought ;)

More - A bit breezier today so I found that the launch angle now needs to be near zero. Baseball cap video snapshots. Anyway enough of this silliness, what's next?

 1: If a 6 footer was made solid construction then theoretically it would weigh approx 465 gms and need a bloody big elastic band, 2: You would need a big field for maidening. Make a traditional constructed wing for lightness but probably would not survive long. There is free flight and there is free flight limits. ;) I might make a copy of Colin's glider though a bit bigger, only constraint is my balsa stock.
