Two things.

Firstly, my young man, if one were speaking correctly, one would surely have said "....we could surely do..." not "...sure do...". Yorkshire was never a colony of England. T'other way round in fact.

Secondly, a tip when covering. You would not be the first to forget to remove the backing film, and wonder why it does not stick!

The Bleriot comes first, after the Partenair takes to the air. Then the Atlas. The Appolo and the SuperCub will have to wait.

Chris - When covering using film I cut paper patterns first to the exact size & lay them over
the roll of film of film so you can minimise wastage. I normally cut the film about 1 in oversize
all round to grip when stretching it.
This works particularly well when working on curved fuselage surfaces.

Thanks for all the tips, keep them coming. I hit my stride after lunch yesterday, partly because I stepped back and rethought my process. Then I got to the wingtips, and I was torn between the desire to get them done, and opening a bottle and leaving them until the morning... the bottle won.

Anyway, my first covering job... the bottom of the wing, hopefully the top will go a little quicker as I'm getting a better feel for what I'm doing.

Wing tips are such fun  Don't look closely at them, as I have done a good job of mapping Norway's fjords onto them :pinch:

I've got low resolution eyes these days, so I'm sure it will look good in the flesh.

A related quote from a year 7 student using an optical microscope this week "come and have a look at this, the graphics are amazing"...and then a little later when he was struggling to focus..."it's frozen again"

It will look good at a stand-off distance of 5 metres so don't worry... Who is gonna be up around 150 feet at 50mph checking the covering. At that distance even my patch worked Curare looks good.
Really looking forward to seeing it fly Chris.

I'm using an 11x8.5. This will pull about 60A depending on the battery.

I think I must be the worlds slowest at covering, but bit by bit it's getting done.

Great news that your Atlas is nearly ready John, hopefully I'll not be too far behind you. Please do let me know when you plan to maiden it.
