Simple construction for the tailplane and elevators built flat on the plan.Once dried the tailplane will be cleaned up and tips sanded to shape and then sheeted with 1/16 balsa.Same with elevator but not sheeted ,also wire ele joiner and supports will be added.Fin and rudder is same constructon

Fin and rudder built,as with the tailplane the fin is sheeted with1/16 balsa and not the rudder.

Yes it was hot this afternoon so glad I am finished the painting of the walls by 12. Then outside in the sunhine and cutting skirting in klit form ready for fixing.

Chippy coming along in leaps and bounds. Is there enough wood to use Robarts Pete? Because of the design I would think the flat Kavans is the only option possibly? Are you going to just dry fit the hinges so the control surfaces can be cover filmed first?

Regarding wings and flaps. Rather than use the torque rod as per plan maybe a hard point in the centre of the flaps and then I could make up separate servo mounts for the flaps?

Last job done on the chippy today,f/glass bandage on the wing and she is finished, ready to handover to Phil on Sunday.
To make it easy for Phil to cover I have not glued any of the surfaces and tail plane and fin are tacked on.Also the wing to fuzz fairing is left off.

The wing fairing is an optional extra Pete. I bought a set for the Pennzoil but never fitted them due to the fact they are glued on before covering They are white plastic and need cutting out of the plastic pressing. Might do the job properly this time...... ;)

They will need spraying to match fuzz colour anyway.Dont try and glue them to the covering!!
Once you have covered the fuzz and the fairings are ready, tape them in place and with a new scalpel blade cut the covering away and then glue the fairings to the wood.
Also never try to cut them to exact shape with scissors, much better to over cut by a couple of mm and then sand to shape with a flat permanent grit
