Repair is at long last finally completed, lots of other things been going on since last posting on the "Diamante".
Still have to resolve a problem with the speed controller then it's air test time.
Thanks to everyone for their comments during this rebuild.
Colin.

Never mind 'Good as New' Colin - that Diamante looks better than new!

What is the problem with the speed controller? I hope it's not the same thing I'm struggling with. I got a replacement from HK for the one which caught fire in my Cub and I don't seem to be able to program it. Phil lent me a programming card but I still can't get it out of slow start mode.
I'm beginning to think it's an age thing. If you're an expert please come and hold my hand!

Remove prop
Switch on transmitter and put throttle stick to full throttle
Connect battery to speed controller and wait for the first set of beeps to finish (a second or two)
Move throttle stick to idle
ESC will beep ... move the throttle stick to full as soon as you hear the beeps
ESC will beep ... move the trottle stick to idle as soon as you hear the beeps
ESC should now play the intro theme music and you're done.

Re my speed controller problems, I'm now back in the workshop (after a week in Finland and returning home to find ankle high grass needing urgent attention) and I followed Mikes advice right up to:

ESC should now play the intro theme music and you're done

Unfortunately I still have slow start up, maybe it's my inability to read tweets (not being a follower of Twitter) it's either that or the ESC is faulty, or I have a hearing problem due to listening to too much live jazz.

Thanks for trying to help Mike, maybe I need to bring it your workshop to test your hearing.

Regards, David

To complete the "Diamante" rebuild thread I'm pleased to say that I finally got round to flying
her on 21st February 2018 - pic attached.
The post rebuild maiden was "interesting", on all maidens I have someone standing by me to input
any trims to allow me to concentrate on keeping the model straight and level.
On this occasion Tim Sullings was the "trim man" & boy it was needed. The model was nosing down quite badly
and also turning slightly to the left under power.
After trim inputs it still felt wrong so I decided to land her, the landing being a great three pointer.
So it's back into the workshop to check the C.G. , incidences & motor thrust.
My gut feeling is there too much downthrust on the motor but I did not want to prolong the flight to do the usual tests.
So watch this space for the next flight.
Colin.
