Tomorrow I will run through the preparation and fitting of the inner and outer tail pipes. Whilst on the subject of tail pipes I thought it might be of interest to the non jet members to explain a bit more. As you can imagine the exhaust on a jet gets bloody hot so the normal thing to do is to use an inner and outer pipe called a twin wall which is far more safer than a single wall. Basically the inner pipe is thicker gauge and has corrugated rings to stand the outer thinner pipe away to allow cooling air to circulate between the two keeping the pipe cooler. On the turbine end of the pipes you have mounting lugs which are screwed to the airframe /by-pass to stop them moving.Hope the pics help explain!!

Pete - Thanks for the explanation, following your thread has really opened my eyes to the complexity of the modern model jet.

Pete, I'm enjoying the article, especially the photos. The colour matching is a nuisance, do you think a spot of "weathering" would help hide the difference in colour/shade of the newly painted parts? Keep going! It's doing my enthusiasm the world of good.

John - My final comment on your gallant effort to find a matching blue & sand colour for covers.
Have you considered sending the small bits back to BVM & asking them to spray & return ?

Postage to the US is prohibitively expensive and I wouldn't trust BVM not to charge an extortionate amount for the privilege. They do make good products but their customer loyalty is based on the "The Emperors new Clothes" - i.e. they charge for stuff that any other manufacturer in the market gives away.
