Eventually got around to laying up the cowl and spats using the mould I made  a year ago. Bending the shaft on this oval roller was a bit help.
I made a balsa ring to reinforce the frontal radius to minimise the amount of resin and weight.

A hell of a lot of work Kevin to achieve the basic cowl, etc.
I wonder if someone has a mould laying around gathering dust somewhere in the world that may have saved you some time.

The concept seemed quite straightforward 4 yrs ago - How naive i was

Amy way here is the initial placing / fitting of the forward cowl . I had to produce a built it "spider" to interface the two parts

All being well my nephew is producing a 9 cylinder 3D printed dummy engine

Certainly been a major project Kevin, surprised you have stuck at it.   There are full  kits and there are kits and make the rest up as you go along.  No wonder ARFs are popular!

Having previously moulded the outer shells for the spats, i need an inner pair with flats to assist mounting to the U/C leg adapters.
I poured an equal volume of epoxy & micro balloons into each mould then layered the inner sections
After trimming the edges i fixed small balsa teeth alternatly to aid alignment. They are now fixed with cyan to enable me to join with glass bandage
