Buy a covering iron! Clear wrinkles in ARFs and reseal edges. Cheap and useful all round. I don't know what I would without one now. AND not too heavy if you get it thrown at your head... :lol:

A little travel iron worked for me don't worry about it too much the thing will be so quick nobody will see it anyway :woohoo:

I have an iron so I'm ok there, I just meant any tips on the actual covering, can you cover it in one pice or half on bottom of wing and half on top etc, I was hoping for one colour underneath and another on top.

Seperate piece top and bottom, make sure overlaps are downwind.

Apply with low heat and pull wrinkles out as much as you can before shrinking. Do not shrink until the edges are fully sealed down, and don't use too Much heat to shrink, experiment with the temp before you fully commit.

Leave a couple of inches spare at the tips then stretch the covering round using enough heat too let it stretch.

Get plenty of scalpel blades to trim, it takes the edge off really quickly.

Finally, use Profilm, it's well worth the extra cost

A little more feedback from testing yesterday, where I managed 5.01 flights.

The first flight was the 0.01! I had trimmed it after the initial flight during the week and did not add back in the 1mm up elevator. That was a mistake, because the model hit the ground and sheared the blades off the prop. It carried on running for a while but the vibration then sheared one of the motor cables where the connector is soldered. These cables are very stiff and long and closer inspection shows that it had work-hardened prior to shearing, so would have gone one day anyway. Lessons learned:

• always launch with +1mm
• shorten the motor wires and/or be careful not to bend them too much where the connector is soldered

The forecast was not too good so I called it a day until 1pm when it looked like it might stay flyable, so I went home and re-soldered the connector and got back to Cashmoor by 2pm. Five more uneventful flights with different props. There is not a lot of difference between the 5.5x4.5, 5x5 and 4.75x4.75. The 5.25x4.75 was on the midweek maiden flight and was the one that broke today. This also had very similar performance. I also tried the 4.7x4.2 which was definitely a little slower and would probable be the best choice for formation flying.

As for the flight performance, all I can say is wow! The speed compared to the Twinjet (and Phil's x-wing) is like chalk and cheese. At full power it appears to climb vertically without any loss of speed and gets small very quickly. The conditions were very windy by the end of the day and the Impressivo cut through it very cleanly. One or two landings were less than perfect, due to the turbulence, of course! One prop broke on landing, so make sure you have a few spares to keep you going.

Well I have been busy this weekend with the covering but unfortunately off to Saudi working again so the final touches will have to wait till I return, I hope the skittle night is enjoyable and hoping to see lots of pictures of all the impressivos from the night! You are all lucky I'm not there because I'd smash the competition lol
