Here is the Pink Lady. Its the eyes what did it.

Phil, the hook is fixed, not releasable, so we would need a drogue to pull it off the hook when you stop.

However, Mike's method seems to be good.

Congratulations to Phil C (through gritted teeth :) )

That was my tactic, but I failed :(

Five were up today. Kevin's and mine had already flown and I did the hand-launching for Simon, PhilC and Jon, with Jon doing the trimming flights for Phil and Simon as well as himself. All successfully up and down in one piece. Motors and ESCs are coming down cool even after extended runs at full throttle. Batteries are warm but not excessively so. I broke another couple of props. Before my last flight I measured the current on a 5.5x4.5 at 57A compared to Kevin's 44A on a 6x4 (not an APC and with a different battery). Didn't measure Jon's current but in flight with Kevin and Jon mine was noticeably the quickest which was put down to better battery - a 35-70C Turnigy Nanotech compared to Jon's 25C Thunderpower. Last landing was a bit hot and it flipped over ripping a small section of covering/hinge material. Easily fixed but it put paid to my afternoon.

When we were flying three together, it was interesting trying to find the same piece of sky to fly in. These things are quick and their small size adds to that impression. Occasionally, we were close together and managed a few low, fast fly-by's. Not sure what it looked like from a spectators point of view. Perhaps we can get some feedback here?

Looking forward to next time when we can hopefully have a few more in the air together. There's a photo out there of the five of us looking incredibly cool, ie. not at all nerdy.

Mike

Sorry that's such a poor quality photo, but for some reason, whatever the size of the original I upload, it comes out as 26kb :(

Thanks for the help yesterday from Jon,Mike and Kevin . Successful maiden and first solo flight, Fun to fly but will need to watch landing speeds as I came in too hot but lucky to get no damage. Take off was easy with a good launcher but will have to master solo launch. As Mike said , with a few up at same time will be fun.

My thanks also to Jon and Mike for their support yesterday. Like Simon, I will have to master the art of hand launching.

I'd also like to thank Kevin for his advice through the project, and Colin A: I asked him for tips on soldering leads, and he provided the advice, solder, heat, flux, time and some of the connectors.

It is amazing that this very fast model also flies slowly with no instability whatever.

This is my first electric model. I am definitely taking that route from now on.

A better picture would be good. I don't feel a hundred years old, but I sure look it. :woohoo:

Its over 10 years since at a previous club we had a group build. From opening the box thru test flight and now group flying has been a real buzz.
Synchronising our circuits so that 3 of these mini speed machines went down the field in even remote proximity took some effort on my part but when we eventually managed it there was much "whooping and hollering" (or was that just me !)
To conclude, all I would like to say to those members who weren't sure if it was their scene, push yourself harder next time and enjoy the rewards.

This is an example of what good model clubs are all about.
