Sorry to hear what happened John, i suppose on the plus side it could have been a lot worse but it's certainly brought it to everyones attention how lethal lipo batteries can be. All my batteries are stored in lipo bags in a small brick shed attached to the house including all planes, i think it goes without saying i will be investing into some ammo boxs .

Blimey, was it really that long ago.

Since Jon's lipo fire story I've never charged a lipo indoors. I charge on a 'disposable' workmate outside and well away from anything important. If the weather is at all inclement I ain't flying anyway so its not a bother. They are however stored, at storage charge, in an attached garage - this may not be optimal- but I don't know of any lipo spontaneous combustion stories. so Its ok - right?
