Chris73 wrote: Very simple idea, you glue a magnet in the brass tubes in the wings, and then the wing tube is a steel rod

Chris - Just a thought, do you need vent holes in the brass tubes to prevent an airlock, this could stop the steel joiner engaging with the magnet. Other option is to file a small flat along the length of the joiner.

Scaple? David T must've missed that one Chris.

Surely a new Stanley blade would do and your only down the road from Wickes. Then your done! ;)

This summer I overheard someone discussing another member (not you Chris) who used a new scalpel blade each time they cut their profilm. This was the first time I'd heard of this wasteful ritual. Maybe I'm in the minority but I usually manage to cover a whole model including trim with one blade.

Mike - Me too, I have a new blade for the delicate trimming bits but use a " pre used " blade for rough cutting the film.

Rough cutting is the key phrase there Colin.

Cutting film blunts scalpel blades really quickly, not a problem if you are doing solid colours, but if you are doing multiple colours and particularly when trimming edges in situ, new blades are a must and a worthwhile investment in my experience. I buy them in boxes of 100 when I'm covering, around £15 a box.

Each to their own though ;)
