Got to work on the wings today. Vacuum bagging produces very straight wing...much better than pressing or just using weights. Also made the wing tips and cut the holes for servo leads

Neat boring jig Mike - designed by " Grommet " ? - presume same jig used for boring
wing tube holes.

Definitely not Grommets work edges not planed and sanded and upright not jointed into base.
Nice work Mike where did you get the vacuum bag was it easy to get the wrinkles out I got in a hell of a mess trying to do that with a fiber glass wing.

I put the wing and the offcuts in the bag. The vacuum just adds equal pressure all over so wrinkles are not an issue. If you bag straight onto foam you need to use a mylar (or similar) semi-rigid skin so that wrinkles do not transfer to the glass surface.

...and bagging glass straight onto white foam is never going to work because the surface finish will always be non-uniform. I've bagged straight onto blue foam with good results in the past.

Control surfaces cut out and faced with balsa today. It's a time consuming job waiting for the glue to dry before you can proceed to the next face. When adding wing tips I put a piece of plastic where I don't want the tip to be glued. I can then sand the wing tip down to the aileron profile before the aileron is cut free...and when it's cut free it won't be glued to the tip.

The mandatory 'it looks like an aeroplane' photos. and then back to the building board to join the wings.

That has to be done Mike, it gives impetus to the project. Disappointed to see a lack of longerons and stringers but hey I guess we all have to move on ;)
Great build blog, looking forward to seeing this one in the air.
