March sounds good!

You need to get yourself to Cashmoor with the Panther so you can have a go with it as well :)

As soon as i can get this bloody house move under my belt i can focus on being a full time jet jock, but at least in the mean time the vampire is keeping me sane !!

Pete gave me a prod when he said

True to his word he turned up and here are some snaps of progress.

As you can see it's looking good but still lots to do, the main job for me being to produce a tank for at least 3 litres of fuel positioned not too far from the C of G and work out how much noseweight it's going to need and, with the Vampire having a very short nose, if there will be room for it. Thanks to Pete's great building and adaptation of the plans it weighs about 8.5 kg without the undercarriage and radio gear but with such a large wing area it should be a floater.

Looks fantastic....gorgeous lines (the plane Pete). David, have you seen this awesome little box of tricks for intricate CG balancing/planning?

As for fuel tank, is there any merit to seeing if a Derjet tank set would fit? They seem to provide installation space too.
Which UAT are you going for?

Dave B asks

I wondered that and bought a pair of Derjet Vampire tanks and the answer is no. This being a wooden model rather than composite like Derjet all the formers and stringers and the inlet manifold take up too much space. If you look closely at the picture of Pete framed by the booms you can see the redundant tanks on top of a cupboard (see clipping).

Anyone want to buy a couple of tanks?

Don't know how I missed them in that photo! :)
Oooh, does that mean we now get a thread on how to form your own fuel tanks?
Pink foam shaped followed by kevlar/glass/epoxy??

Surely you could have these done by the end of today?
