A typical wet summer's day so I have been going through the info pack that David has compiled and doing my own research as it's always good to get a good picture in your head of what needs to be achieved.
I find it amazing how crudely the fitment of panel and rivet detail were in the mid 40's,definitely not built to last.

Am i right in assuming it is this one DH Vampire 20% or 1/5 th scale?

I think a Renault will be too small..........

Oh no it won't. With the outer wings removed it sits on the U/C and is 50mm narrower that the space between the Espace wheel arches. Also I've modified the plans to make the booms removable which, with the back seats taken out, makes the fuselage a good 500mm shorter than the loadspace.

So there!

I'v had time to study the five set's of drawings for the vampire in depth and made a note of the revisions and hopefully digested all the information.
I'v emailed David a cutting list of all the wood needed to complete the project and hope to have it by the end of the week.
The vampire is going to be the most complex build i have ever under taken in my 45 years of building and can't wait to get going. As it is an american design it's nice to have all the dimms in old money ie feet and inches.
After some careful thought i plan to start on the fuselage crutch as it is the most critical part of the build as all the datums come from this for the wings and boom's etc.As i get going i will keep you up to date with pic's and write up's. B)

I forgot to mention that David has built the outer wing panels, tailplane and fins and started the inner wing panels and booms in other words all the easy bit's LOL,sorry David ;) but still leaves 100's of hours of balsa bashing.
