I'd not through of that, I'll program a Mitch button that makes my radio spew out a cacophony of telemetry data, it could cycle through each cell voltage every few seconds and give me flight duration at very regular intervals. I accidentally set my radio to beep when the sticks returned to centre, Simon will remember how annoying that was, and that was just beeps! Although to be fair I do try not to annoy Mitch, but I think just by being there I wind him up :)

Concerning Mitch, Chris notes that

I think just by being there I wind him up

Don't worry Chris, this a perfect example of a global reciprocal arrangement, also know as a bilateral commitment with reciprocal rights. In short, by being there Mitch winds everybody up.

David, I've read your post several times and totally agree with you, or rather I would do if I had any idea what 'bilateral commitment with reciprocal rights' meant

My Taranis X9D arrived yesterday. In spite of a "crash course" from Mike last Sunday, I don't seem to be able to update the OpenTX firmware to version 2.2. I've checked all the boxes (I think) but on attempting to update the transmitter, I get the message "wrong language". The transmitter is two years old according to the display, is it too old to accept the latest updates?

OpenTX version 2.1.9 Brian? Maybe the firmware needs flashing. Annoying video music rather than voice but may help you -

Cannot check my TX version because it is now with HK in Suffolk. Last message I had on my Claim page was it could take two ruddy weeks to sort out. I would've forgotten all I have learnt by then.:(

Phil, I've just finished the final attempt to update the transmitter to Ver. 2.2. I'd had a brief chat with Mike at lunchtime, he was able to give me a lead on the "language" problem I was having. I put my new found knowledge to work, now my transmitter shows a bright shiny "2.2" in the window. I'm so pleased, I can't stop looking at it.
At this rate, I'll have a model ready to fly-by-Taranis sometime in the Spring of next year( assuming I don't get any interruptions). I jest of course, I meant end of November this year.

That's good news Brian, I've not made the jump to 2.2 as 1.9 is working, but I think if starting from scratch as you are 2.2 is the way to go, and it's been out long enough that any bugs should have been found and dealt with. Just be aware that on 2.2 they dropped the eepe file format and (from Memory) it's now an .otx file. Also sound packs that worked for 1.9 don't work as they changed the naming standard or something like that. Basically I'm trying to say when hunting for info on the web be sure it's specific to 2.2

All the best and good luck.

Well done, Brian. When you select a new model do you get the 'wizard' popping up like I showed you at the weekend?

Hello Mike, yes it's there, asking questions, just as you showed me last Sunday. Must admit, when the mouse pointer vanished when downloading the Betaflight Zadig program, I thought I'd never get to the point where I could program the Taranis . Now it's up to date, I'm beginning to feel confident that I'll be able to load in my first model.
Thank you for the help and encouragement.
