You're welcome, Brian. One final thought...since the transmitter is second-hand you should make sure that it is running EU-LBT firmware. This is not the same as the OpenTX software used to program models, it's the protocol used for transmitting. The reason to make sure it is EU-LBT is that (1) it is the 'legal' protocol in the UK and (2) when you buy new receivers they will be EU-LBT and it is going to be much easier to convert the firmware once in the transmitter rather than every time you get a new receiver.

Zadig? I thought Zadig (USB driver library) was not needed for later stuff. I did not need it with Win10 and OpenTX2. My TX refused to talk back to my PC until I installed the later OpenTX 2.1.9. . Ver 2.1.7 was faulty apprarently.

Glad your sorted now....:) Welcome to the newbies club

Phil, I must admit that "Zadig" sounded more like a character from Flash Gordon, than a driver program. However, that obstacle has been overcome. I shall sleep easy tonight, especially since I saw that the mode on my X9D shows a comforting "D16". So my second hand bargain is EU compliant, crikey!
Thanks for the heads up Mike.

Getting to grips with the Taranis X9D+ isn't exactly what I thought. As bought, the transmitter had a model set up "Wizard". Since I upgraded the Tx to version 2.2, the Wizard has gone somewhere. Do I need to download a "fix" from OpenTx? Bit nervous about plugging in since I spent a day getting my mouse and keyboard working after the business with the "Zadig" download for a USB driver wiped them.

Use Companion and open the settings window. Make sure you have the LUA box ticked. Then flash the transmitter again.

D16 does not mean it's got EU LBT firmware.

Hi Brian,

When you updated your radio, did you also update the SDCard content for 2.2.0?

OTX 2.2

It's the first thing bellow the title: Download links: at the bottom of the page. The SD card contains the 'Wizard' in the folder called scrips.

Hello Chris, I've got myself a bit confused with the Taranis. i thought I'd sorted it when I got it up to 2.2. Since then I've tried to update the bootloader to match, but it doesn't seem to respond in the same way that other Taranis transmitters do on YouTube. Thank you for the gen on updating the SD card, somehow I missed the fact that the card and the transmitter are separate. I was assuming that a single update did it all.

Hello Mike, today I tried to flash the EU-LBT firmware using a program called DFU Dfuse. Caused more trouble for myself...again. Uninstalled the program and ended up with a flat transmitter battery. Try again tomorrow.

Finally the bootloader was updated to version 2.2. I thought that was that. Now I find that it isn't just a matter of binding the receiver to the Tx, the receiver has to be flashed with the latest firmware first. I did a quick run through this morning, looks more complicated than updating the transmitter.
