Bought this Super Chipmunk 63 inch wingspan on Ebay at least 8 years ago and has been buried in the back of the hangar ever since. It was a Carl Goldberg kit before Goldberg made an ARF version. It was powered by a sweet 65 four stroke which I sold on. I was planning to give it something more lively and redo the covering which was faded to say the least. That's when lack of interest came up. Ruddy covered with Monokote (they should hang the guy who invented that). The top layer comes off leaving a ruddy mess of pigment and glue. Made a start on it and then gave up.
Wind forward to 2020 and held hostage indoors by bad weather. Took another look at it and another attempt to get a bit more Monokote off. I then made a servo tray and found some old pushrods for the rudder and elevator. Made up guide tubes from snake outers. I have a new fibre-glass cowl that came with it too fortunately. Last two days I have recovered it with Oracover (with colours I had in stock) because I am not spending to much money on it. Two new digital servos though. Will be looking for an 70 -80 size four stroke for it. Salisbury MFC have a Swapmeet in April so might find one there.
It is real struggle sometimes recovering. Much easier to cover individual components.
