Christmas tree up, outside lights done and extra sockets in the bungalow done I need a modelling fix B)
The fibre glass canopy hatch requires the glazing panels to be cut out, so to leave just the frame ready to glue the clear panels in at a much later date.
This is a really tricky job that has to be done stone cold sober :( as one bad slip with the dremel and its game over.
Firstly undercut by 2mm all the straight lines with a cutting disk, stitch drill the corners.
Once all cut out, clean up with a drum sander on low speed to within 0.5mm of the finished edge. Using perma grit large and small files finish to the final size.

Next up are the speed brakes or speed boards. As these are designed to be deployed in flight on the model thay are made from carbon fibre for added strength . First job is to cut them from the marked sheet using the same method as before and add the 1/8 ply stiffners using med cyano.

Good to see you are making the most of your 'down tools' time Pete ;)
There seemed to be a lot of advice and addendums associated with the speed brakes. Would these be deployed with the flaps typically? And is there enough room in the fuselage for small hitec mg servos to operate the brakes, and should we be worried about the proximity to the thrust tube (heat affecting the servos), and should the brakes be on a slider switch or just slam to full deployment?
