Sorry Simon, just spotted this post while going back over the thread, wasn't meaning to ignore you :(

The scheme may look familiar to some (I used up stock covering!) I will post up a picture when finished (possibly tomorrow B) )

Dante wrote: Jon, change of mood, nobody picked up on that beautiful Curare of Hanno Prettner's circa 1977 if I'm not mistaken. Now those were the days when there were no computer radios, only slider trims and you had to set everything up mechanically, no electronic tricks. I'm not even sure whether 35 MHz radios were about, I was still flying 27 MHz. You'll remember those days, launch and hope some twerp of a truck driver was not calling Rubber Duck on Citizen's Band, and none of your mates switched onto your channel while you were up. :woohoo:

Hope to get my old Wolfgang Matt's Super Star back in the air this year, built 1977/8, still a retro man me, even then with electric (servo activated) retracts. Those were the days when the radios sorted out the men form the boys, you didn't cry when shot down, just used of few of those excellent four letter words and got out the trusty string bag. ........MFA Chevron, Gangster, Bullet et al.

Looking forward to seeing the Superstar Dante, same year as the Curare I think, do you know what it weighs? The original Curare was around 8 1/2 lbs I believe, my new one is under 6 1/2!!

I had a Chevron and a couple of Gangsters back in the day, one of my Gangsters was shot down on 27 mhz by a still current member, I won't name him but you all know him well

I also admit to flying my Dads Bullet through the barbed wire fence ( I think I previously revealed that on the old stories of stupidity thread, we need to resurrect that thread :) )

Ahh those were the day's, glad im not the only one old enough to remember. I was learning to fly in 1975 with a 27 meg 3 channel sanwa and a super sixty. If the rubber ducks didn't shoot you down the fact that i was using dry cells in the tx and rx would after a short while.Nicad sets were around but i could not afford them on my 87.5p a week paper round :( :(
