Never been attracted to the std Spit / Hurricane types but always loved this beast. Hopefully the fwd projecting u/c will cope with any long grass manouvers and that cowl is crying out for big motor. In this case a DLE 35. Its a YT international 73" span Typhoon (suspect clowned from the Brian Taylor plan)

Think I know what the nickname will be - see pic 3

This is HEAVY and the wing skins arn't capable of supporting it with finger points to check C of G. So dragged out the axle stands i haven't used for 20yrs.

Q - Am I correct in assuming that the critical C of G for this type is landing gear down because they sweep quite a way back on retraction.

That looks lovely Kevin!

You should check to cg when it's at its rear most position, if the gear goes backwards when retracted, then the rear most postion would be with gear up if I understand you correctly.

Unfortunately Jon you are correct The C of G will move back with L/G retracted. However Its per the book with gear down and the seller claims the model flies well. Its already got ITRO 1 kg of ballast up front. My thoughts are that its critical on landing but any rearward shift with gear retract should be manageable at speed.
However - as you haven't done a maiden recently "When you test fly it" it will be flight no 4. !
