When I first got my dle 170 it bit me a couple of times, turned out to be a faulty ignition unit.I sent it back under warranty and a new one was fitted sorted.

Update:

1) New ignition, new Pick up sensor, old carb new NGK's = Still kicking back (no kick at intial run with choke, but kicked at first fire at choke off)
2)Same as 1 but with old pick up sensor = Still kicking back (Kicked at first fire, choke off)
3) Old carb, old sensor, old ignition unit through regulated 7.4 = Still kicking back (Kicked at first fire, choke off)

if it wasnt for my starter stick, i would have a further 3 strikes to my hand.

Im at a loss. Unless the magnet in the prop driver is in the wrong place? I cant think what else to do.

Suggestions from the more experienced please :-) .....

Have you tried retarding the ignition by moving the sensor? Move to the left, anticlockwise when viewed from the propellor side.
