No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationAs you have followed Jons recommendation to retard the ignition, the next check i would do is a comparative timing check between the two engines. Ideally you would install a DTI ( dial test indicator) down one of the plug holes and rock the crank to find Top Dead Centre - Failing that you should be able to get a reasonable idea by carefully slipping a piece of dowel down on to the piston. then check the magnet position against the sensor. This check should tell you if its a long way out. To do this accurately, you may need a timing kit such as this.

All well and good checking the timing, but pointless without knowing where the pickup should be in relation to TDC don’t you think?!?!!
For the record a good starting point for the pickup should be 28degrees before TDC!
I can show you how to work this out Dave it’s pretty simple!! ;)

Dave just been reading an interesting thread on Flying Giants where a couple of people have had the same problem as you, turns out the timing was set at about 40 degrees before TDC from the factory, all the replies said that this was wrong and as Chris M has said 28 degrees is somewhere close
