Mk 11C Hurricane winter build was created by flyingpete
Hi Guy's
I thought some members would like to follow my build thread of my hurricane.I have been playing with the idea for many years to build a large true scale hurricane, but decent large scale plans were hard to find.So when Tony Nijhuis released his plans for a 1/4.5 scale 103" span hurircane it had to be done.
It wil be powered by a Zenoah 62 petrol lump as these are heavy engines and will help with the c of g as with most warbirds, they tend to be tail heavy.I hope to put the canopy on rails so it will slide so i can hide all the switces inside.Scale air up and down undercrackers with true scale oleo's and landing lights.
I will upload some pic's shortly to get the ball rolling

Like your subject - It would be great to have some large scale aircraft at Cashmoor.

There is no doubting the Zenoah's suitability in such aircraft but I've glanced at TN's website and there are several engine parts protruding from the cowl - What do you think to the DLE 55 rear exhaust + lead ?

Kevin
I think it's going to be a compromise,as getting the c of g with a lightweight petrol motor will be difficult without adding loads of unwanted lead..Im hoping to keep the rear as light as poss so to avoid too much lead.I have carefully selected the balsa to try and save some weight .

Ok guy's
I will rezize my build pics over the weekend and post up sunday. Also i am keeping an eye on how long this build is taking me in man hours and so far i have spent 100 hours  Quite a chunk of the time was transferring the plan parts to balsa and ply and cutting out to make a kit of parts.
The cost of balsa/light ply/birch ply/spruce is around the £200 mark but hopefully this should be enough to complete the basic airframe. It just goes to show why artf models are not built in the uk as a modest hourly rate of say £30x100= £3,000 and i am a fast builder.

Stay tuned

Pete - Just been looking on the BMFA Classified website & a guy has just put on a full length
WW2 scale pilot with no flying experience, may be suitable for your Hurricane.
Great project look forward to following the build thread.
