I've just seen your blog update, and the hot wire cutting for the retracts and servos looks excellent. My agricultural approach (dremmel and vacuum cleaner) is nowhere near as neat.

Thanks Mike, it did work out quite well in the end, although I think it can be refined a little for next time... and no dust!

Here you go Phil,

scratchbuild.wordpress.com

Phil, did you get some Jet Craft retracts? or was it just Steve that stole the last set that should have been mine, not that I'm bitter... I've had lots of fun with Hobby king retract and now have two spare!

How can you have two spare? Or did you order a load in the hope that at least three will work?

I take a similar attitude too with HK stuff. Although it is fair to say it depends on what your buying, some stuff is really good.

I needed three, but they come in pairs so ordered two pairs, one was faulty and they sent me a replacement,I guess as they are sold in pairs I got a pair, so ended up with 2 spares.

Just a couple of pictures to to let you know how I'm getting on picked up courage to start covering today.
My weight is a bit up on Mikes, well a lot at 1925grams as it is in the pictures.

Great to know another Atlas will soon be in the sky, mine is going to be ready hopefully before the Autumn, but at the rate I'm building don't hold your breath, I've successfully managed to build the tail fin with a nice twist in it today, so that's bin fodder!

Let me know when you plan to maiden and I'll come up.

Well done John.

By the way, are you using retracts? if so which ones?

I notice that you've carefully omitted to specify the year of your autumn completion target. ;)

Well it goes without saying it won't be this Autumn Alan... Blimey I thought that would be obvious. ;)

I had thought I'd skin the foam wings today, but you know how it goes, the glue bottle looked a little low, didn't want to get caught short, and being Good Friday and all, nowhere was open. So instead I sanded one skin, took a while with 8000 grit, but it feels so smooth, just got the other three to do so should be done with that just after Easter.
