I was wondering who would be the first to say it looked more like a boat or rocket or something!

Colin, it would be some sort of torture cutting all the slots for the stringers

Had a good afternoon strip sheeting the fuselage bottom. It was a bit challenging at times as the 1/8 balsa sheet is a tad too hard and not very forgiving so I reduced the plank width from 5/8 down to 1/2 and sprayed it with water to soften it,much better.

Fuselage planking complete, leave to dry overnight and tidy up edges, give the fuselage a good sand and then on with the next stage.

Judging by that ....285JPG image you may need to saw off that fin first, it's in completely the wrong place!

Had a couple of hours on the vampire today in between grandpops duty. The fuselage had a light sand and removed internal bracing. Glued in the nosegear bearers and strengthening pieces hardwood mounts for the turbine, tank tray and front tray for nosewheel servo, rx and batteries.
Also glued in the ply reinforcement for the front and rear dihedral braces.

Sheeted fuselage wing root area and glued wing joiner ply tongues to inner wing panels only at this stage and trial fit inner panels so we have a nice close fitting joint.
These panels will be glued in place after I have finished fitting undercarriage, flaps etc, also it is easier to move the fuselage around without them as the vampire is 4ft wide with the on.
