The rear former F12 is drilled out and sanded to shape to allow the thrust pipe to exit.

Taking shape really nicely Pete, thanks, though it looks as if there will need to be some surgery at the exit from the intake ducts, they look a bit choked at the moment.

I'll have to set about sourcing a 1/5th size legless pilot next. I've got a 1/4 scale chap, if I dope him will he shrink enough?

I agree about the exit David, the big problem we have is it clashes with the main 1/4 ply former/spar so ducting would be an option as we cannot cut into that former.

Looking at the Derjet Vampire, it appears to have a converging duct. Not bypassed though. Would this get around the issue? Progress is staggering Pete.

Thanks for the pics Dave, I think if I shorten the ducts a little at th exit end it will bring them away from the1/4 ply spar/ former enough for me to fabricate some balsa ducts to obtain a good airflow into the fuselage

Pete, when fabricating the ducts don't forget that I want to get the turbine as far forward as possible otherwise there won't be enough lead on the roof of St Mary's Fordingbridge to get the C of G in the right place.

With the Simjet Kerry Sterner shows in position on the plans he told me that he needed over 3lb of lead in the nose.
