4 more cycles and nearly there - I discovered a high tech solution to separate the two halves during the process - its called sellotape !!

This semi rigid plastic sheet will provide the separator when i produce the mould

Fwd and rear plugs now mounted for laminating moulds but that stage may have to wait for fine weather. In the meantime i need to make a half plug to produce 4 half wheel pant sections

My first attempt to make the wheel spat plug was OK but once again John Banister provided his excellent skills with CNC design and manufacture and produced two perfectly matching back to back plugs.

In the end I concluded it would be easier for me to slice the block in two using my bandsaw and mount for final shaping/ smoothing.

The plastic separator will prevent any filler gluing the two halves together

Spread over the last week the plugs have required about 10 cycles of cut back / fill / cut back / etc to get to this stage. Now taken them to my local car body shop who will apply 2 -pack primer filler (they'll use up the surplus in spray gun when doing repairs)

Picked up the plugs from the body shop last week after a few heavy coats of 2 pack primer. Now cut back, polished and ready for using to make the molds.

The basic kit design has no provision to secure wheel spats so have made these adapters ( some reshaping and lightening still to do) - Commercial products would not secure the spats in the correct position
