Decided not to use covering film on the centre section so it's been glassed. Also the small ABS parts to provide a bit more strength (they were probably moulded 15yrs ago )

After 4 yrs i cant believe there is one part ready for paint !

Wings now ready for covering using DIACOV  which is 14cm wider than Oratex 60cm .  templates helped optimise the extra width. Oratex would have cost me over £250

haven't used a TEX type covering for many years but this DIACOVis a sheer pleasure (purported to have better shrink ratio and adhesion properties than solar or ora TEX

Just amended the text above - i'm using DIACOV which is DIATEX with an adhesive backing
The tex version is applied with dope.

All 4 wings now covered so the fuselage is next. Then i remembered finding a pic on the net of a full-size Stearman rebuild.

So spot the differences here !

Eventually got around to laying up the cowl and spats using the mould I made  a year ago. Bending the shaft on this oval roller was a bit help.
I made a balsa ring to reinforce the frontal radius to minimise the amount of resin and weight.
