I have edited the inputs screen as suggested. I did not intend to use this a resource but as one progresses to show how it was done. As you may be aware people go about achieving things in different ways to get the same effect, the wonders of open source programming.;)

Perhaps I'll have another look at Taranis and the OpenTx. This new thread looks most encouraging.

Whilst viewing T9Hobbysport for another X8R receiver I noticed the S8R so gone for that version. (3 Axis stabiliser). To make it easy for the initial setting up you can Download the STK Tool from Frsky. You will also need a Smart Port Airlink so the PC can talk to the receiver/gyro.
Then went to the basket - £8.80 P&P? Well for that price might as well add a Vario too for the same weight /price

And I think if you upgraded to OpenTX 2.2 you'd be able to set it up from the radio...the drone boys didn't get all the updates ;)

I looked for that but couldn't find it.

Phil, it would make sense for you to upgrade to 2.2 now so that that you don't have to convert models later. You'll get the advantage of being able to setup the S receivers more easily and the standard synthesized voice alerts sound a lot better on 2.2.
